Increased mixing efficiency
The unique action of the JetMix system is proven to improve mixing efficiency over conventional methods. Pure biological slurries up to 10% have been shown to be efficiently resuspended to a homogeneous mass after long quiescent periods. Studies involving mixing of minute quantities of feed stock into a large tank volume have further demonstrated the truly homogeneous nature that the mixing pattern develops. The feed stock was shown to be uniformly dispersed throughout the tank volume.
The system is also proven to virtually eliminate solids settling during operation. One study showed that a fast-settling material was maintained in uniform suspension with essentially no accumulation of solids in the tank, even though the feed pipes were run above the tank floor.
Dramatically reduced operating costs
The efficiency of the JetMix system reduces the amount of energy required in comparison to conventional systems. The minimal maintenance and operator attendance required further reduces operating costs. The system's ability to run intermittently in suitable applications (such as biosolids and applications with slow settling solids) causes a very dramatic reduction in costs in comparison to the continuous operation of conventional systems. Installation and operating costs can be reduced by using the mixing pump's ability to fill disposal vehicles or feed other process equipment.
Simplified maintenance
In-tank equipment requires no scheduled maintenance, so the system runs maintenance-free most of the time - requiring very little operator attention. Routine maintenance of pumps is convenient and efficient since pumps are commonly located outside of the tank enclosure, often in a separate room or vault.
Minimal tank obstructions
External location of the pump and pipes keeps only the nozzles inside the tank and simplifies maintenance dramatically. However, the system has also proven to work well in applications where internal pump or pipe location is required. Unlike conventional mixers, anti-vortex baffles are not required in a JetMix system. Reduction of tank obstructions helps eliminate accumulation of debris such as rags and ensures more hands-off operation than conventional methods. The JetMix system can often be operated remotely, requiring only routine maintenance of pumps.
Easy cleaning, loading and unloading
The external nozzle adjuster can be used to easily clean specific areas of the tank as needed with nothing but a manual adjustment and a water supply required. Where desired, the pump driving the system can be used for convenient loading and unloading or for mixing multiple tanks intermittently.
Easy retrofitting
The JetMix system can be installed and retrofitted to both above ground and in-ground installations. Since JetMix doesn't rely on the tank walls or roof to support machinery or operating equipment, the materials and construction of the tank do not limit the system's use.
Adjustable or fixed nozzles are easily installed in existing concrete tanks.
As-needed operation
The system's ability to operate on an as-needed basis is a unique feature which can equate to savings of many thousands of dollars of energy costs alone for applications that can accommodate this approach. The system's ability to quickly and completely resuspend solids (within 24-48 hours) make this possible.
JetMix is capable of suspending 4% solids within 2 hours after 8 months of storage with no prior mixing.
Ideal for varying liquid levels
JetMix flow patterns are not affected by the liquid level of the tank, making the system ideal for flow equalization, storage tanks, or any process tank which requires homogeneous solids concentrations yet may operate at various liquid levels. Efficient mixing is achieved as long as the motive pumps have liquid available.
Use with supplemental air
The JetMix system is a valuable addition in applications where air is used for mixing or maintaining aerobic conditions. Proven in its ability to suspend organic and inorganic solids, the system's intermittent mixing capabilities allow for independent mixing and aeration. This intermittent operation offers substantial savings in operation and maintenance, and when compared with systems using only aeration. The combined JetMix/aeration system reduces air volume by 70% and power consumption by as much as 40% in an anaerobic digester.
