Here JetMix nozzles were part of a flow equalization program which enabled this plant to reduce the initial cost of a plant expansion. Flow entering the plant uses a flow regulation device that diverts excess flow to this holding tank equipped with JetMix nozzles. The influent channel is under the bridge and excess flow is seen passing over weirs in the channel wall.
The mixer is operated on an as-needed basis. When the influent flow rate falls to an acceptable level, the JetMix nozzles are used to resuspend any settled solids so that the tank contents can be pumped back into the main plant for normal treatment. This balances the organic load and minimizes odor problems.
Diffused air can be combined with the mixing system to reduce odor.
